Amid deteriorating humanitarian conditions and growing displacement across Sudan, Alkhair Foundation – Middle East has launched an emergency relief response targeting the most affected families to help alleviate suffering and secure essential needs for dignified living.
According to field reports from teams operating on the ground, the response included the distribution of 5,200 comprehensive food baskets containing essential supplies capable of supporting families for extended periods, at a time when local communities are facing severe food shortages and disrupted supply chains.
In the shelter sector, one of the most critically affected areas of the crisis, field teams installed 220 equipped tents to provide immediate protection for displaced families who lost their homes, ensuring minimum safety and stability under challenging climatic conditions.
The response also addressed health and preventive needs through the distribution of 500 personal care and hygiene kits aimed at reducing the spread of disease and improving sanitary conditions in gathering sites.
As part of direct food assistance, the Foundation established a community kitchen operating for ten consecutive days, providing hot meals to 500 beneficiaries daily, reaching a total of 5,000 meals. This initiative contributed to ensuring a reliable and immediate food source for families struggling to access daily nutrition.
Ayman Kanaan, Africa Projects Coordinator at Alkhair Foundation, stated:
“The humanitarian situation in Sudan presents significant challenges that require sustained support and coordinated efforts. What we are implementing represents part of our responsibility toward affected communities, and we will continue working to address the most urgent needs in cooperation with donors and humanitarian partners.”
Alkhair Foundation concluded its statement by calling on donors and supporters to continue backing relief efforts in Sudan, emphasizing that the humanitarian gap remains substantial and that needs still exceed the assistance delivered so far.
