Alkhair Foundation has reopened Dhul-Nurayn Mosque “Uthman ibn Affan” in Al-Abbasiya, Tyre District, southern Lebanon, following the completion of repair and restoration works carried out to address damage sustained during the recent conflict in Lebanon.
The reopening ceremony was attended by the Grand Mufti of Tyre and its region, Sheikh Dr. Midrar Al-Habbal, alongside local scholars, community leaders, representatives of supporting organizations, and a large gathering of residents and worshippers. The event reflected the community’s joy at the mosque’s return to its religious and social role.
The restoration works were funded by Alkhair Foundation in cooperation with Jeel Association for Sustainable Development and the Humanitarian Relief and Development Association, as part of joint efforts to rehabilitate damaged places of worship and strengthen social cohesion in conflict-affected areas.
During the ceremony, Alkhair Foundation Director Sheikh Imam Qasim delivered a speech reaffirming the Foundation’s commitment to supporting humanitarian and development projects, particularly those focused on rebuilding houses of worship and serving affected communities. He emphasized that reopening the mosque represents an essential step toward restoring reassurance and reinforcing religious and social values.
The event also featured a documentary presentation highlighting the damage sustained by the mosque prior to restoration, followed by the unveiling of a commemorative plaque marking the completion of the rehabilitation and the official reopening.
At the conclusion of the ceremony, Alkhair Foundation was honored in recognition of its efforts and its role in completing the project, underscoring its contribution to rebuilding religious facilities and supporting the resilience of the local community.
This project reflects Alkhair Foundation’s vision of standing alongside communities in their own regions and supporting their spiritual and social needs in ways that promote stability and preserve human dignity in the aftermath of crises.
