epiation of an unfulfilled Qath

Expiation for a broken oath (Kaffarat al-Yamin): Allah Almighty says: “The expiation is to feed ten people in need with food of the same standard as you feed your own families, or to clothe them, or to free an enslaved person” [Al-Ma’idah 5:89].

This expiation may be fulfilled by providing ten people in need with lunch or dinner, giving each of them half a sa‘ (a traditional measure of volume) of a local staple food such as dates or rice, providing them with clothing, or freeing an enslaved person, whether male or female.
