Emergency Response to the Bangladesh Floods

Heavy monsoon rains have caused widespread flooding and landslides, damaging homes, roads and sources of income, while leaving thousands of families cut off from food, safe water and healthcare services.

Affected areas include Feni, Chattogram, Bandarban, Sylhet, Sunamganj and Cox’s Bazar, as well as other locations across northern and south-eastern Bangladesh.

The Bangladesh Flood Relief Campaign aims to deliver urgent, coordinated assistance to the most severely affected families, prioritising those who have lost their homes or been forced to flee.

Humanitarian Situation in Numbers

According to Al-Khair Foundation – Bangladesh’s assessment at the time the response was prepared:

• Approximately 1,023,000 people were affected by the floods.

• Nearly 268,000 families remained cut off by floodwaters.

• 51 deaths were recorded as a result of floods and landslides.

• The victims included 13 Rohingya refugees.

• 24 people were injured in affected areas.

These figures demonstrate the scale of the need for Bangladesh flood relief and the importance of delivering timely assistance to affected families.

Bangladesh Flood Emergency Response Project

Al-Khair Foundation – Bangladesh launched an emergency project to address immediate needs during the floods and support families after the waters recede.
