In Kenya’s arid and marginalized counties such as Kitui, Garissa, Tana River, and Wajir, many children walk up to 10 km daily to school without shoes. They face extreme heat, sharp stones, thorns, and frequent foot infections, resulting in injuries, absenteeism, and poor academic performance.

Due to poverty, drought, and displacement, many families are unable to afford proper footwear for their children. This project addresses this urgent need by providing “Shoes That Grow,” durable shoes that expand up to five sizes and last for several years.

The intervention ensures safe access to education, protects children’s health, improves school attendance, and restores dignity. The expandable design offers a sustainable and cost-effective solution, maximizing long-term donor impact.
